Our Detection Dog Seminar Series is an Unprecedented Group of Courses At Extremely Affordable Rates

Beginning in October, 2014 we will be offering an unbeatable Detection Dog Seminar Series of seminars for handlers with detection dogs of any type.  This series of classes is intended to improve your detection dogs performance and increase the proficiency of the detection dog team as a whole. This series is offered as individual seminars so that handlers can attend the seminars individually, choosing the seminar(s) that they want to learn from or you can choose to attend the entire series at a savings of $67!

Advanced Detection & Interdiction October 22-24, 2014

Our Detection Dog Seminar Series starts off with our Advanced Detection and Interdiction Methods Seminar on October 22-24, 2014.  This course will take your detection to the next level!  Our instructors will show you how to increase your chances of locating contraband, even in the most difficult of concealments.  This course discussed proper methodologies and techniques for searching passenger vehicles, dealing with hidden compartments, tractor trailer searches as well as parcel interdiction.  Sgt. Gary Simpson, Interdiction Officer with the Iredell County Sheriffs Department, ICE Team will be showing handlers how to get the most from criminal interdiction stops.  Gary Simpson is an Advanced Criminal Interdiction Instructor through the Department of Homeland Security as well as part-time TFO assigned to US Customs DHSI Charlotte.

Sgt. Simpson has recorded over 3700 training hours with a strong focus in Advanced Criminal Interdiction. He has conducted multi-state training from Colorado to Florida in the field of Criminal Interdiction dealing with bulk currency seizures, narcotic seizures, use of K-9 and hidden compartments. This extensive interdiction training has led him to work some of the major interstates in the country to include I-40, I-77, I-85, I-10, I-95, I-64 and many other highways in small rural counties. Simpson has also been an active instructor for US Customs and the NCEA (National Criminal Enforcement Association) for several years in the field of Advanced Patrol & Criminal Interdiction.

The Cost of the Advanced Detection and Interdiction Seminar is $129.  This is a working seminar and handlers are encouraged to attend with their dogs.

K9 Management & Supervision – December 11, 2014

The next seminar in this series is our 1-day K9 Management and Supervision Seminar that covers a variety of topics that are pertinent to supervisors, administrators and handlers alike.  This course teaches you how to get the most from the K9 teams within your department or agency.    This seminar covers K9 allocation, FLSA issues, policy concerns, in addition to liability pitfalls that should be avoided.

This course will be taught by Jason Purgason, who is the Training Director of Highland Canine Training, LLC and has over 20 years of experience in training dogs and people for Detection, Police Patrol, Search and Rescue, Tracking, and other aspects of working with dogs. A reserve police officer and former Police Canine Handler, Jason conducts police canine handler courses in addition to the oversight of all other trainers’ courses offered at Highland Canine Training, LLC. Jason was a full time canine handler employed at Reidsville Police Department, North Carolina, for more than 10 years. He was also a canine unit supervisor for this department which included five dog teams. For almost nine years, he was the Supervisor of the Vice Narcotics/ Interdiction Unit and was an Operator on the SWAT team.

The cost of this one day course is $59 and is a classroom based seminar.

K9 Courtroom Survival – January 15-16, 2015

Criminal defense attorneys are attending training more now than ever to learn how to effectively defeat K9 handlers in detection cases.  If they are learning to better defend these cases, shouldn’t you learn more about effectively prosecuting them?  Finishing up this seminar series is our K9 Courtroom Survival Seminar.  This seminar allows you to go head-to-head with a former defense attorney that has a reputation for winning cases.  This course will teach you the pitfalls of courtroom testimony as well as record keeping and report writing techniques that will help build solid detection dog cases.  The cost of our K9 Courtroom Survival Seminar is $79 per person.
